Business Management
The business management area of study is designed to prepare students for a wide range of careers in the world of business. As such, this area of specialization, at Omega College, reflects the current and projected needs of the business world. This major provides student with the in depth business knowledge of management, economic awareness and the business skills and understanding necessary to success in private and public organizations as supervisors, managers and owners. The programme is intended to prepare students with the ability to plan, organize, budget and manage financial, human and material resources. These are assets needed to achieve the objectives of business.
The Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management at Omega College is particularly suited to self-directed and goal-oriented individuals who are interested in enhancing their problem solving, decision-making, analytic and communication skills. The curriculum is presented by experienced and highly qualified faculty who are recruited from government, business, politics, finance and religion. This intellectual mix provides the student with a rich academic and cultural environment in which to learn and internalize the theories, principles and analytic methods of business as well as their application to problem solving.
The business programme at Omega College offers students a number of advantages, namely:
1. A 15 month schedule designed to accelerate the degree completion for those with an Associate Degree.
2. Classes meet five hours on Saturdays for five week or one night per week for ten weeks.
3. Credit is given for prior learning.
4. Students are admitted and study in Cohorts.
5. Emphasis on the development of human relations, management skills, decision-making skills and strategies on improving performance.
6. Designed for working adults and the method of effecting the programme allows the student to keep his/his job while working toward his/her degree.
7. In the Cohort model, learners are enrolled in only on course at a time.
8. Cohorts learn not only how to support each other but also to share common goals.
9. Small classes, normally 15 to 25 students per class.
The Business Management programme at Omega College enables students to develop:

4. Understanding of research methods and techniques and their applications
5. Self-knowledge and positive self-image
6. Self-reliance and leadership skills.
This programme is comprised of a total of 120 credits. Of this number, as many as 45 credits can be transferred in from an accredited college or university. A total of 27 experiential learning credits can be applied to satisfy the requirements of this degree. Forty five credits must be in business management. To meets the scheduling needs of employed adult learners, classes in this programme are scheduled in the evenings with classes beginning at 6:00 pm Monday through Thursday or one Saturday per week over fifteen weeks per semester.
The requirements for this degree are the same as set out above. Students should work closely with their Academic Advisor to ensure that they are registering for the appropriate courses each semester.
Life Experience Portfolio Credits
Students enrolled in the business management programme may earn a maximum of 27 credits for prior experiential learning by submitting a prescribed portfolio to be evaluated by the designated faculty in the respective disciplines. Student wishing to get credits for prior experiential learning should apply to the Vice President of Academic Affairs for permission to submit the required portfolio. When the student has obtained permission of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, he will be directed to the designated faculty who will advise on the requirements and content of the portfolio. The student must work closely with the portfolio advisor and register for the portfolio development seminar to ensure that the document is satisfactorily completed.
